What is Consider the Numbers?

The goal of Consider the Numbers is to make it easy to find and view data. There are lots of data out there, but they're not very accessible. Consider the Numbers is meant to help make them accessible.

Free data are provided by many sources, but the data is scattered across the internet and the data formats are not standardized. Finding and viewing data can be a challenge. Picking out the intersting features within multidimensional data is a greater challenge. Combining data from multiple sources is significantly more effort. Consider the Numbers attempts to provide a fast and easy way to find, slice, combine, and view data from different sources.

All datasets available from Consider the Numbers contain links directly to the actual data tables from which they were created. If the numbers seem too strange to be true, you can check the source. (If my data is actually wrong please let me know)

Consider the Numbers allows you to view the data from the current graph as a csv file. By doing this you can work with it using your favorite tools. You can also get a permanent link to the current graph which can be used to bookmark the graph or share it with others.

What Consider the Numbers is not

Consider the Numbers is not a robust graphing platform or data processing engine. The idea is to find and view data easily. If you need to scale data, combine dimensions, or create highly customized graphs you can download the data as a csv file and import it into your favorite tool.

Consider the Numbers is not a collaboration site. If you want to comment and post a graph you've created, you can post a link to the graph to your social media platform of choice.
